The Legacy Council works to make sure that Bishop Blanchet has and keeps a strong relationship with the Native American Community around Seattle. We work on education materials regarding Native American Heritage and ensure that we as a school are using the moniker Brave respectfully.
Our aim is to offer chances for the Bishop Blanchet community to gain knowledge and understanding of Native culture and issues important to the Native community. Since its inception, the school has remained tied to Native culture through our moniker. The Council aims to inform and remind the student body of the importance of knowing not only the school’s history but the history of the people who allow us to be the Braves and whose land we acknowledge as stolen.
