Counseling
Welcome to the Counseling Center
Starting freshman year, students have access to a range of college counseling services designed to help gain admission to the best college that will fulfill their goals and needs. Students work closely with their counselor throughout the application process and evening sessions for families are also offered on specific subjects such navigating financial aid.
Juniors and seniors are invited to visit directly with any of the 120+ college admission representatives who come to our campus each year (more than 120 !), with sessions schedule throughout the fall..
We are committed to student success both in high school and beyond!BBHS students are assigned to counselors in alphabetical groups. Each counselor stays with those students and their families for their four years at Bishop Blanchet High School. In addition to providing college application preparation, our counselors are also committed to helping our students thrive socially and emotionally.
SAT AND ACT REGISTRATION & TEST PREP
There are many resources to prepare for the SAT or ACT. Please visit the counseling center with questions.
MAIA LEARNING
BBHS partners with Maia Learning, a college and career readiness platform that engages students in planning for their future. It allows students to develop profiles, explore careers that fit those profiles, and build academic, college, and career plans. It will also help students manage college applications and build resumes and portfolios. This brief video provide more information about the platform.
Seniors, watch this video to learn how to connect your account with the Common App.
WEIGHTED GPA
Beginning in the 2022-2023 year, BBHS introduced a weighted cumulative GPA. Colleges use cumulative GPAs as one of many factors in the admissions process, as well as in awarding merit scholarships. By providing a WGPA, colleges will have more information and context to assess a BBHS student’s application. Further information can be found here, including the policy description and FAQ.
