Technology & 1:1 Device Program

Our commitment to new technologies helps develop inquisitive and creative students and researchers and places our school on the cutting edge of secondary education. Our graduates leave BBHS able to use technology to research information and assess the value of data and to communicate their ideas more clearly and effectively.

All of our students participate in our innovative one-to-one iPad program, which allows for creative course content assignments, interactive classroom activities and in-the-moment research.

As an outcome of the transition to our iPad program several years ago, an implementation and innovation committee was formed to continually guide and shape the BBHS 1:1 technology program. The committee, comprised of departmental designees, members of the technology department, parents and faculty, has recommended a bring your own device laptop program for the 2019-2020  academic year. This decision was rooted in maximizing learning inside and outside of the classroom and best preparing our students for life in a college environment.

iPad Program Information

List of 3 items.

  • Device Requirements

BBHS recommends, at minimum, 32GB , WiFi-only connection.   Such a model should be able to contain all of a student's textbooks, along with required apps and data. If a student wishes to include photos and other items on the iPad, the family may wish to purchase a 64GB+ iPad instead.  Please do not purchase 3G or 4G connectivity models as they can bypass the school's network and security. The AppleCare + insurance plan is strongly recommended in the event of accidental damage.
  • Purchasing Information

Families are advised to purchase a device directly for their student.  The device is available for purchase at a number of local electronics and general department retailers, as well as online through Apple and other online retailers.  When purchasing an iPad from a retailer, such as Apple, we recommend you take advantage of their free engraving option.

    Option 1:

Purchase the iPad directly from Apple, either through or an Apple retail store.  iPads can also be purchased at third party resellers, such as Best Buy, the Mac Store, etc.

Apple also has refurbished iPads available for purchase here.

    Option 2:

Apple, Inc. has various financing plans, including 12 month, no interest financing for an iPad purchase. More information can be found here.

  • Parent Controls

    Enabling Restrictions

You can enable Restrictions, also known as Parental Controls, on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to prevent access to specific features. More information can be found here.

    Internet Monitoring

Third party monitoring systems are also available to assist with parental controls.  Companies, such as Mobicip and Net Nanny, have an app that can be installed on an iPad for secured browsing.

    Guided Access

Guided Access helps you stay focused on a task while using your iPad.  Guided Access limits your device to a single app and lets you control which app features are available.  Information can be found here.
