Basketball - Girls

About our Program

The Bishop Blanchet Girls Basketball program is a winter sport, that does have tryouts and cuts. The program offers three teams (Varsity, Junior Varsity, and JVC). The teams practice at BBHS in the main and small gyms six days a week. The program focuses on three main pillars each season for success on and off the floor.

  1. Player Development: The program emphasizes the individual development of players' basketball skills, including shooting, dribbling, passing, defense, and court awareness. Coaches prioritize helping each player reach their maximum potential while fostering a love for the game.

  2. Teamwork and Collaboration: The program promotes the importance of teamwork and collaboration. Players are encouraged to work together, communicate effectively, and understand their roles within the team. Building trust and fostering a supportive team culture are vital aspects of the program's philosophy.

  3. Sportsmanship and Character Development: The program emphasizes sportsmanship, fair play and the development of positive character traits. Players are expected to demonstrate respect for opponents, officials and teammates, and to exhibit good sportsmanship both on and off the court.

Rest in Peace, Coach

The Bishop Blanchet Community and the Girls Basketball Program lost an incredible human being and an invaluable leader.

Coach John Augustavo was more than just a coach; he was a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration to all who knew him. He taught the values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance, both on and off the court.

Let us remember the passion, the humor, and sarcasm that Coach John Augustavo brought to the game, the encouragement he offered to each player, and the lasting impact he had on our lives.

Please join us to honor our friend and coach on Wednesday, January 14 at 7:30 p.m. as our varsity girls basketball team takes on Lakeside. It is very fitting to invite our community to gather in the Ernie Rose Gym, a place where Coach Dollar spent many hours teaching, mentoring, and laughing. Thank you for helping us celebrate his legacy and lasting impact.
