Prayer and Sacraments

"Pray as though everything depended on God.

Work as though everything depended on you."

St. Augustine

Liturgy

Once a month, our school community comes together for an all-school Mass or prayer service. These celebrations are special times for our school to unite in prayer. Students are encouraged to take an active role in the liturgical ministries through lectoring, singing and serving at the altar. Whether you indicated your interest in our survey during Student Orientation or not, students are always welcome to stop by Campus Ministry to talk further.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

During the seasons of Advent and Lent, all students have the opportunity for individual confession with priests from our local parishes as part of our Theology classes.

Prayer

Students are offered multiple opportunities to pray together at Bishop Blanchet. One of these is our daily reflection and prayer each morning. During the morning reflection, everyone in our building “pawses” all activity and quiets themselves for our morning reflection. Then, a student or staff member offers a reflection and prayer over the intercom. Anyone from the school community is welcome to share a morning reflection or prayer. See Ms. Christensen in Campus Ministry if you would like to do so.

Besides the morning reflection and prayer, we also begin individual classes and school assemblies in prayer, and it is a common practice for sports teams to pray together before their games and practices. Instead of a final bell, we end our day with a final blessing read by a student, staff member or visitor to our community.
