The Bishop Blanchet High School Cheer Squad is open to students in their Junior and Senior years. Tryouts are typically held in May and practice for the squad begins at the end of May.
Cheerleaders spend 10 hours a week during the summer learning cheers, chants, dances and other routines to perform during the school year. In addition to weekly practice, the cheer squad spends one week at Cheer Camp getting professional instruction from the National Cheerleading Association staff.
During the school year practice is between two and four days per week. Cheerleaders cheer at all Varsity football games in the Fall and all Varsity Basketball games in the Winter.
Additionally, cheerleaders perform at assemblies, promote school spirit and help lead their fellow students in school sponsored activities.
