French Club meets twice monthly to share the fun of French culture and cuisine. Our activities reach out to the Bishop Blanchet community as a whole, as well as to members of the French Club. Our members provide tutoring in French, participate in service projects, and support worthy causes such as Médecins sans frontières, a group of doctors who treat, without charge, ill or wounded victims of poverty or war.
Students who meet the requirements can obtain lifetime membership in the Société honoraire de français, the French National Honor Society. An induction ceremony and honor cord presentation mark the prestige of being a member of this group.
We seek to connect with French clubs in other schools and with students in French-speaking countries. We have a lively sister-school exchange set up with our friends in Les Sables d’Olonne, France, providing great opportunities for travel and friendship! A yearly celebration of French Week sets the stage for subsequent events, including food festivals, film nights, a dance, formal meals, and group attendance at plays, restaurants, camps, and concerts. Our bake sales set off the culinary delights for which France is renowned, in a charming café setting.
