Braves Finish Week 1 of Play Making Great Strides

The Braves had a great start to the season!
@ Archbishop Murphy Lost 1-3
The Varsity Volleyball team played their season opener last night against a tough Archbishop Murphy team.  The Braves fought valiantly but lost to the Wildcats 3 sets to 1.
Player of the Match goes to Sophomore newcomer Kayla Richardson who led the team hitting .500 and had 4 kills and 3 blocks. Great net play helped the Braves solidify their defense at the net.
Leading the Braves offensively was Senior Outside Hitter Katie Merrywell with 10 kills and 5 digs and Sophomore Outside Hitter Claire Ramquist with 5 kills and 2 aces.  Junior Libero Mia Loveland notched 2 aces and 7 digs and setter combo Junior Cameron Ferguson and Senior Stephanie Waechter combined for 20 assists.

@Shorewood Win 3-2

The Varsity Volleyball team defeated the Shorewood T-Birds in a 5 set battle last night.
Player of the Match goes to Senior Captian and Outside Hitter Katie Merrywell who led the team with an awesome 21 kills, 10 digs, and 5 aces.
Outstanding play from multiple players sealed the Brave win. Freshman newcomer Molly Ramquist had 9 kills, 10 digs, and tallied 5 aces.   Sophomore Outside Hitter Claire Ramquist had 8 kills, 5 aces and 6 digs.  Junior Libero Mia Loveland had14 digs and setter combo Junior Cameron Ferguson and Senior Stephanie Waechter tallied 14 and 23 assists respectively.  Sophomore standout Kayla Richardson contributed 5 kills and 3 blocks for the night.

Sterling Classic Results

The Braves Varsity Volleyball team participated in the Sterling Classic on Saturday in a preseason tournament to open up their Metro season that begins this Wednesday.  The team had a great showing and exhibited solid teamwork and had lots of fun.  The Braves lost to Woodinville in the Bronze Division finals after a long day of 6 matches.  
Players of the Day are Captains Katie Merrywell & Stephanie Waechter
Katie finished the day with 22 kills and was a true leader out there on the court with fellow captain Stephanie. Stephanie finished the day with 42 assists and 4 aces.  Freshman Molly Ramsay finished with 16 kills, 17 digs and 3 aces. Junior Ella Adams notched 11 kills, and 8 kills each for Senior Olivia Zumdieck and Sophomore Kayla Richardson.  Sophomore Olivia Twilley anchored our backrow with 27 digs along with Sophomore Claire Ramquist.  Junior Cameron Ferguson also finished with 28 assists and 3 aces.
