Tuition Assistance Overview

  • Tuition Assistance at BBHS

    Bishop Blanchet is sincerely committed to supporting families in need of tuition assistance. We believe that all qualified students should have the opportunity to benefit from a quality, Catholic education regardless of ability to pay.

    Tuition for the 18-19 school year is $16,910. 

    For the 18-19 school year, BBHS awarded $3.0 million in tuition assistance and scholarships to families with incomes ranging from $10,000/year to $200,000 and above/year. This was made possible through the generosity of our donors and the support of Catholic Archdiocese Fulcrum Foundation. Blanchet’s commitment to tuition assistance resulted in over 30% of our school population qualifying for tuition support.
  • How Aid is Awarded

    BBHS offers tuition assistance based on demonstrated financial need and aid is awarded directly from Bishop Blanchet and the Fulcrum Foundation. Factors considered in the request for aid include family income, assets, total number of family members in the household and the number of children attending Catholic schools. Award amounts may vary, even given similar financial profiles, depending on available funds.
  • What if I Make Too Much to Qualify?

    Bishop Blanchet strives to make tuition affordable and accessible for as many families as possible. Because there are many factors considered in our decision making process, we encourage families across all income levels to apply should they need aid. 

    The case studies below may help give you a sense of what a financial award may look like based on income level, number of children, etc. 

    Case Study 1

    A family of five with two students attending BBHS and one student attending Catholic middle school. The family income is $202,000. They received a $11,500 tuition assistance award.

    Case Study 2

    A family of four with one student attending BBHS and one student attending Catholic middle school. The family income is $155,000. They received a $6,500 tuition assistance award.

    Case Study 3

    A family of three with one student attending BBHS. The family income is $80,000. They received a $9,000 tuition assistance award.

How to Apply for Tuition Assistance

  • Applying for Tuition Assistance

    Please follow the steps below to apply for Bishop Blanchet and Fulcrum Foundation Assistance for the 2019-20 school year.

    1. Click here to complete the BBHS Tuition Assistance Application. The application is available in English and Spanish.  

    • Current BBHS families and families with students in other tuition charging schools that participate in FACTS and/or the Fulcrum Foundation Grant and Aid Program, should log-in with the same FACTS username and password they use now.

    • Using your existing FACTS log-in, select "Bishop Blanchet." In the section entitled FACTS Grant and Aid program, click "Start Application."

    • Families who do not have a current FACTS login should begin the FACTS application by choosing the "Create a New Account" option.

    • Enter all students, including elementary and middle school, and their schools on the same FACTS application. This will ensure that each FACTS school and the Fulcrum Foundation receive your tuition assistance request.

    • Parents of students who live in different households are expected to apply separately and each provide the required financial information.

    • Under the "Applicant" section, answer "yes" to the question "Are you applying for Fulcrum Foundation Tuition Assistance?" BBHS and Fulcrum use the same application with pertinent questions from both institutions required throughout the application.

    • Required fields (*) will not let you proceed without an entry or number. If you are unsure as to how to answer a question, click the question box to utilize the "Help" function.

    • The preferred method of payment for the nonrefundable $29 FACTS application fee is credit or debit card. 

    2. Submit the required supporting financial documents (listed below) along with your FACTS application.
  • Required Supporting Financial Documents

    The 2019-2020 Tuition Assistance application is considered complete and ready for review when the following documents are attached and visible on the FACTS application:
     
    • IRS Form 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ  for the 2017 Income Tax Return including all required Schedules and Attachments. If applicant and co-applicant file taxes separately, 2017 tax returns are required from both parents.

    • All 2017 W2s or 1099 statements are required for both applicant and co-applicant if applicable.

    • Year-end paystub showing 2017 wages and deductions.

    • Most recent paystub showing wages and deductions. 

    • Business owners are required to provide all appropriate tax forms (Schedule C, S Corp, etc) for the business as well as the most current Profit and Loss Statement.

    • Families who receive funds from Social Security, SSI, TANF, or Unemployment Compensation are required to submit a copy of the Federal/State Award Letter or payment advice for each family member who receives funds. 

    • NOTE: please attach all of the 2019-2020 required documents to the application even if you have sent some or all of these documents to BBHS regarding the 2018-19 tuition assistance application.

    The preferred method of attaching documents is to scan and upload them in a pdf format from your computer. FACTS supplies instructions on the application as to how to do this. Please DO NOT use your mobile device to photo copy required documents due to problems with legibility. Parents may also FAX or mail documents directly to FACTS to have them upload the documents for you.
     
    Please be aware that documents uploaded and/or sent to FACTS can take up to two weeks to be verified and attached to the financial aid application. Your application cannot be reviewed until the documents are visible to us.  
     
    FACTS Customer Support is available to assist with application questions at 866-441-4637. Please have your application I.D. and Social Security numbers available.

Merit Scholarships

  • Merit-based Scholarships


    Merit based scholarships are offered to incoming 9th graders only at the time of admission. Scholarships are awarded to top scholars who demonstrate academic promise/achievement, leadership and faith & mission activities.

    Students are automatically considered for one of these renewable scholarship when they apply for admission to Bishop Blanchet. No separate scholarship application is required. Financial need is not a criteria for the merit-based scholarships. Please note that students in our International program are not eligible for tuition assistance or scholarships.
  • Named Endowment Scholarships for Returning Students

    As a component of tuition assistance, Bishop Blanchet offers Named Endowment Scholarships to current students made possible from the generosity of Bishop Blanchet donors, alumni and friends. Awards are based on many factors including educational interest, school and community involvement and financial need.

    In order to apply for a Named Endowment Scholarship, an applicant must have demonstrated financial need and the BBHS Business Office must have a current completed FACTS Tuition Assistance form on file for the applicant’s household. For more information about Tuition Assistance at BBHS contact Colleen Reinhardt at creinhardt@bishopblanchet.org. Scholarships awarded from the previous school year are not automatically renewed. Students must complete a new application for a Named Endowment Scholarship each year. If a student is awarded a scholarship in more than one year during their attendance, the amount awarded may vary from year to year. 

    To be considered for a Named Endowment Scholarship, applications should be completed online, emailed to Robert Lukevich at rlukevich@bishopblanchet.org or submitted in person to the Development Office (Room 210) in person no later than 11:59 PM on Friday, December 21, 2018.
