Club Information: The Bishop Blanchet Speech and Debate team is a member of the National Speech and Debate Association, and competes locally and regionally with other high school programs under the auspices of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association. Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of events, ranging from the performance of published works (Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Dual Interpretation, and Interpretive Reading), presentations of original speeches (Oratory, Expository, and Editorial Commentary), and also Extemporaneous and Impromptu speaking. Students may also choose to participate in one of four debate events: Congress, Lincoln-Douglas, Policy or Public Forum. The Forensics season runs from mid-October through March, and the team meets once weekly after school to prepare for tournaments. Join us, and be a part of something special!
