The Bishop Blanchet Choral Program is comprised of five choirs: the Vocal Ensemble, Treble Choir, Men’s Choir, Chamber Choir and Jazz Choir. With over 120 students enrolled, the Choral Program is a flourishing part of the BBHS Arts Department.
The Vocal Ensemble is an intermediate-level choir, open to students who have previous singing experience. This group gives students the opportunity to build their singing and music skills in a large ensemble setting. This choir meets during 0 period.
The Chamber Choir is an advanced, select choir open by audition to sopranos and altos. The Chamber Choir performs a variety of advanced repertoire from a range of genres and musical styles.
The Treble Choir is a beginning-level ensemble that provides sopranos and altos an opportunity to build singing, sight-reading, and music theory skills. All freshman women and women new to the Choral Program at Blanchet should enroll in Treble Choir before joining the Vocal Ensemble or other ensembles.
Men’s Choir is a beginning-level ensemble that provides tenors and basses an opportunity to build singing, sight-reading, and music theory skills. All freshman men and men new to the Choral Program at Blanchet should enroll in Men’s Choir before joining the Vocal Ensemble or other ensembles.
The Jazz Choir is an auditioned group that participates in various competitions and jazz festivals all around the Northwest. They regularly attend the Reno Jazz Festival and the DeMiero Jazz Festival. This choir consists of approximately 16 singers and a full rhythm section with drums, bass, piano and guitar.
